Extras, or as they’re known on set BAs or background artists are essential to productions from commercials to training films and television series to feature films. The reasons for people working as extras vary. Some people see extras work as the first step on the ladder that will lead to them eventually reaching the top and starring in Hollywood blockbusters. Some enjoy the glamour of rubbing shoulders with the stars and seeing how things are done. Some just like the money and enjoy the social side and what, it has to be said, is usually very good food.
